The tape is
part of the Freerk Kamma collection. It is a cassette Sony HF90 in the same brand
box. On the A side of the cassette is a copy of Tape 3 A and Tape 3 B of the
Oegstgeest Freerk Kamma collection, Lagu suku moi (Sorong), nr I. It are
recordings of Moi traditional songs recorded by Freerk Kamma in and around
Sorong. It are basically vocal songs. It starts with a song with a rare syncopic
rhythm. At 3’09 is a song with hand clapping. At 5’56 is a fragment of
classical music followed by a song with also a rare rhythm. At 7’32 Freerk
Kamma announces the victory song of the bird Toksarum. At 9’54 is a group song
with long tones and at the end a fragment of classical music. At 12’50 another
group song with long tones, at 14’47 starts another group song with long tones.
At 16’50 starts Tape 3 B with a song accompanied by clapping sticks, at 20’35
is a solo male song with a strong hum. At 22’50 is a song of women, at 28’20 is
a solo male song, On the B side of the cassette is a copy of Tape 4 A and Tape
4 B of the Oegstgeest Freerk Kamma collection, Lagu suku moi (Sorong), nr II.
It are recordings of Moi traditional songs recorded by Freerk Kamma at the Leprosery
and Remu. It starts with a male solo song, at 3’00 it is followed by a group
song, at 5’25 announcement of Freerk Kamma recording of the Moi Papua probably
at the Leprosery followed by a group song with a syncopic rhythm, at 6’29 a
fragment of another song, at 6’31 a fragment of classical music and at 6’33
another group song with syncopic rhythm, at 7’26 another rhythmic song, at 8’05
another rhythmic song. 12’07 announcement of Freerk Kamma Moi songs recorded at
the Jesus Jes at Ramu, 12’12 group song long tones, distortion, 14’14 group
song with tifa accompaniment, distortion, cut off. 15’42 Announcement by Freerk
Kamma. Second song of the Kanikla or fishing, the attack, the fishing itself
and at the end the return. The house of the young ones. A group song of long
tones. At 16’50 Tape 4 B starts with a continuation of Tape 4 A. At 20’58
Announcement in Bahasa followed by a song with long tones, distortion, 24’56
announcement by Freerk Kamma A song related to the secret male society the
Kambik, long tones, some distortion announcement Freerk Kamma, now follows the
second part of the same song, some distortion, 29’22 solo song, long tones, at
33’16 drop out, 33’33 group vocal part, cut off. Dutch, Bahasa, local Papua languages.
